Julia Kelly

Julia Kelly grew up on the Virginia coast of the Chesapeake Bay and now hails from Brooklyn. She may owe her early fascination with human expression to her mother’s piano and the American movie musical. Julia holds a B.A. in Dance and Theater, summa cum laude, from Barnard College, Columbia University, under the direction of NADINE Director Janet Soares, where she trained extensively with Risa Steinberg and danced the work of Martha Graham, José Limón, Paul Taylor and Elisa Monte. She also holds a certificate from the Professional Studies Program of the Limón Institute.
In 2009 Julia performed with the Limón Dance Company at the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, China, and again in 2012, with the 100 voices of Venezuela's celebrated Simón Bolívar National Youth Choir, at Lincoln Center. She has professionally performed the dances of Doris Humphrey, José Limón and Anna Sokolow since 2007.
Julia is a company member with Riedel Dance Theater and a founding member of Benn Rasmussen's Ardent August. She has enjoyed additional contemporary projects with Geraldine Cardiel (Mexico), Clare Cooke, Christy Williams, Alan Danielson, Betsy Miller, Deborah Norris (UK), Lior Shneior (Israel) and VIA Dance Collaborative.
Julia joined forces with New Artists Dance in New England (NADINE) in 2011.
