With a residency all set for June 30th-July 6th, the artists of the NADINE Project are ready for some dance making in the sun!.....and maybe a quick dip in the ocean too. In just a couple of days we will begin arriving at the beautiful Dragon's Egg in Ledyard, CT for our annual summer residency, which will culminate in an informal presentation of our year's creations! Saturday July 13th at 4pm Open Studio Showing at the Dragon's Egg 401 Shewville Rd, Ledyard CT  Angie Moon Dance Theatre in London After a successful residency this past August, the artists of the NADINE Project have been dancing their new work in London, Brisbane, Philadelphia, and New York. Christy Williams, who has been in Australia for a mere month has already been a part of three different shows! The most recent was this past weekend, presenting her own work for Australian Dance Theatre’s Rough Draft. She has also performed at the Brisbane Festival with choreographers Tina Dobaj Eder and Gregor Kamnikar from Slovenia and she presented her most recent solo, Salt, for a choreographer's showcase in Adelaide. Melissa Chisena and Jennifer Yackel are stirring things up in Philadelphia this weekend with Mixed Drinks, a performance consisting of 30 Choreographers and 30 Composers creating 2 minute works, and then being paired up at random! Melissa and Jennifer will also be performing their most recent solos created at NADINE for the InHale Performance Series, Friday October 19th.  Pajarillo Pinta’o in Bella Vista Nicole Lemelin is back for her second year at Purchase and is taking a composition course with Nelly Van-Bommel. She has created a new solo and is about to start her first ever duet! Daniel Fetecua Soto's company Pajarillo Pinta’o, just finished up with the Bella Vista Project, a week long festival in commemoration of the 10th anniversary from the massacre of Bella Vista, Bojaya, in the Pacific Coast of Colombia. The festival ran October 3rd-7th with two performances at Flushing Town Hall in NYC. This project was three years in the making including research, study, and creative process. Angela Conte's company, Angie Moon Dance Theatre had a successful performance in London this past August! Julia Kelly continues to make new movement every week in an improvisation-based practice with Benn Rasmussen/Ardent August in New York. She recently performed at Lincoln Center with the Limón Dance Company and the 100 voices of The Simón Bolívar National Youth Choir in Limón's seminal Missa Brevis. November 28th- December 3rd! We are getting geared up for our next residency which is a mere two weeks away! It's about this time when we all start chatting with excitement via the various forms of electronic communication to arrange travel plans, discuss what we will be working on, and what yummy snacks we will be bringing! Our August residency is a special one because we have the opportunity to show the culmination or our year's work in an Open Studio Showing at the Dragon's Egg. We invite locals and passerby to come join us in this beautiful space to see what we've been up to. The showing is FREE so we hope to see lots of faces there! Check out this video to get a taste of what we are all about! Also on the docket for this visit is an outdoor performance during the Field of Greens Farmer's Market, located on the New London Parade Plaza. This show will feature new works as well as some of our personal favorites. Because we all live in different places, any performance we get to do together as a group is a treat for us! We have lots of exciting things going on this summer. Christy Williams/XT Danscollective and Angela Conte just finished up a successful performance last weekend at University Settlement in New York City. The performance, titled Six Degrees of Separation, featured six choreographers who can trace their connections to each other through fewer than six dancers. Cecly Placenti who produced the show intends to make it an annual event. The theme for this year was "How we respond to injustice." Congrats to Angie and Christy on a successful show!  XT Danscollective at Norristown DanceFest 2011 Photo by Bill H Saturday August 4th at 8pm and Sunday August 5th at 2pm, we have Norristown DanceFest produced by our own Melissa Chisena/Chisena Danza. Now in it's fourth year, the festival was created to promote the arts in one of Philadelphia's culturally growing suburbs. Angela Conte will be presenting a duet that was created at our meeting this past May. The duet will be danced by Melissa Chisena and Jennifer Yackel. Melissa will present a solo, Ave Maria, that was also worked on at our last meeting. The performance will be at the Montgomery County Cultural Center in Norristown, PA. Click here for tickets!
